To people who have moved from big 4 to mid size, have you found it to be easier dealing with smaller clients? Are the hours/pay better?

You are more hands on. You will prepare FS and disclosures, less technical and staff resources. Hours wise is pretty much the same (tending to less) . Coming from a big 4 could help you to be a significant asset

^Agreed with SAM1, this is my pretty much my experience at CR. One thing to add, most of these clients are privately held and don’t have internal controls or competent accounting staff which can make your life harder

Audit hours are less than I had, and less than my former co-workers are working. Still not 9 to 5. Clients seem to "listen" to us more, but sometimes they need more help in areas I think they should know. More direct relationships with partners, but less name recognition. Overall a positive move for me, but maybe not for everyone.

I need help: In consulting interviews, is it a death sentence to have been part of the COVID-related layoffs at a Big 4 strategy arm? I have now been rejected from two other T2 strategy firms, and apparently the feedback is that “I have great experience” but they “are not moving forward with my candidacy”. I’m getting beaten down here. I have 10 years consulting experience, 7 at health plans, 5 in strategy, and 3 as a manager. I know my industry, function, and story. What am I missing?
