My roommate applied (T14 law school grad and a few years of experience in big law) and got most if the way through the process before being rejected for a “pattern of disregard for the law” after disclosing that he had smoked pot for a year or two as an undergrad (so ~10 years ago).

like

Could be that too, I was connecting back to the “pattern of disregard” explanation, which seems more about temperament, such as what they might do if they caught someone doing a similar crime that they themselves thought was OK enough to repeatedly do it themselves. I would guess the FBI wants “rule follower” types that would generally think they and others should never break the law and be held accountable if they do.

Seems clear to me why applications would be down.

Conservatives & Trump supporters: Why would I want to work for what has been shown to be a highly corrupted, politicized organization?

Liberals: Why would I want to work for Trump?

The FBI has always recruited from conservative law and order type people, and now that trump and the republicans keep attacking it there aren’t many people who are interested

Hi all. I’m the guy that posted about being an FBI agent

funny

Recuse yourself

Fact check: both republicans and Democrats have attacked the FBI. For those who have forgotten: 2 years ago, Hillary and almost all Democrats in DC attached the FBI and called for the head of Comey after his infamous press conference.

They need to relax on cannibus. Same reason good cyber fighters can’t get hired. Bassakwards

It’s not about the drug use, it’s about how likely you are to break the law or other ethical rules. If alcohol was still illegal, they would probably treat that the same way as cannabis. If cannabis is legalized nationwide, they would probably then relax that rule.

Cyber people would have an above average ability to commit cyber crime, and would be given a lot of access and opportunity and additional training to do so working for US cyber agencies. FBI agents would be trusted to enforce the law objectively no matter what. If someone has shown they are willing to break the rules, they are more likely to do so on the job as well.

In the case of FBI agents, it also may be used against them when they testify in court and might jeopardize convictions.

It’s not always about the money, what if someone wants to serve their county. “What I did for America” and not what “America did for me”. Thoughts?

I think that’s a valid reason to join. But are you saying /asking if fewer ppl want to serve for that reason?

The post was about FBI recruitment issues. This is a reason ppl don’t get in. This is why if they relaxed on this they could recruit more human beings.
