Networking. It's about setting up calls and 1-on-1 meetings with people in those practices. You can do it within your firm, or try to do it outside of your firm. If you combine this with being a strong performer, then you will have success in transitioning from audit -> advisory.
Applied on the website. Coming from big 4 audit, I got an interview for every TAS role I applied to (pre-COVID).
Outstanding. Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
Also looking to network and ask additional Qs!
W/CPA, spoke to audit leadership about wanting to move service lines. They set me with up leadership in other SLs, and after discussing with several landed on one that seemed like a good fit. Made the move after finishing up one more busy season. Happy to answer any other Qs.
I basically phrased it as "while I've really enjoyed my time in audit, I'm ready for new challenges. I've looked into XYZ and would like to learn more about those service lines." There was some push back as they obviously want to keep people in audit, but they clearly saw the bigger picture and understood I might leave if I wasn't able to switch. The market is picking back up majorly right now. Not sure what you're looking for with that last Q, hope that helps.
I got into TAS after my first year in audit and had the CPA. I don’t think the CPA is helpful at all
Any general/specific tips on landing that first interview?
got accepted into a 1 week rotation as part of my audit internship, did my networking, which converted into a full time position.
