Recieved a good market adjustment months ago. Asked to apply for a position one level higher on another team. Current boss transparent he would block. After 5 weeks, new team offered zero comp increase promo (mngr wanted to give me much more but cant for 6 months). Current boss said I can request new role/salary and he will get it for me. Never wanted to leave company, but applied externally last week and likely to get offer. Should I even attempt negotiation with current?

Is discussing mental illness still taboo and stigmatized? I am so grateful today. I was laid off a few years ago and was trying to get into I-banking. I was on an h-1 visa. The market was slow, and PwC hired me instead. In consulting, I have had rapid growth and c-suite interaction. I have a Green Card now. Sometimes things work out for the best.
