SOS I’m a first year teacher. I’m at a VERY challenging school district & a different culture than I’ve ever been around before. I cant get through a full day’s lesson! I spend more time disciplining!

Does your admin leave weekly feedback on your lesson plans? This is a practice at my school and I have grown frustrated with it as I don’t find much of the feedback helpful.

Week 1 Lessons:
-Audits are way harder than quarters
-Slow down
-If you second guess yourself, switch subjects for a bit
-Assign work to staff in blocks
-Thank the people that help you

I am a middle school social studies teacher and my husband is a high school art teacher. He has been an art teacher for a very long time and he’s not super proficient with Google classroom but I am. Woohoo. On a well deserved vacation. Three weeks of it. No lesson plans, no google meetings, no distance learning. Love my students, but happy to have the opportunity to spend time playing board games with the family. Also enjoying Christmas movie nights and binging on limited tv series, and camp. My fellow Teachers, our jobs are extremely important for the future of our country. I encourage all of you to continue your hard w. Merry x-mas to all, and to all a goodnight. My division has a PD day for teachers while the students are having a remote learning day. On the itinerary for our workday (for which we were expected to come IN) includes a one hour VIRTUAL webinar (on content that could be covered in 20 minutes total, yet this is our 4th hour so far), and FOUR hours allotted for department discussions of ONE lesson that was taught using the content of the virtual webinar.
I have never felt so professionally insulted as I do this year!

Completely out of ideas for virtual students to be engaged... my in person kids get different lessons because I can do more with them in class. Ready for this year to be over!! 😩

McKinsey Implementation fishes: what does first year’s comp like for associate level? The recruiter quoted me 165K base (which I expected), but total comp is only 180K as “expected amount.” I was under the impression that comp is the same as generalist, is that true or MI pays lower bonus?

Small/boutique law billing question- Do you have clients pay an outstanding balance within 30 days of sending out your account or earlier? I’ve heard some firms require clients to pay as soon as the account is rendered (ie. within 5 business days) but not sure if clients actually do that in reality and you end up chasing them?
