Today I had a meeting with my team which has know since July that I’m pregnant and will not be around for busy season (Jan-Feb). This one manager on the team who probably is like second in charge but is super concentrated in what she does, keeps bringing up that my coworker and I will be out on leave during the busy time of the year. Like it’s a huge deal for some reason. It’s the second time in a meeting that she had made a huge deal. I’m a little irritated about it and I probably making

Yeah and my manger on the team has kids and she understands but gosh this one manger is just getting on my nerves. I think she’s secretly mad because she might actually be held accountable to do what she needs to do instead of them letting her skate by

Think about how you can use humour to reply back. This is no vacation. Recovering, taking care of baby and managing feeding, chores is huuuge!
E.g. it’s funny how you behave like my first lil boss - Cute and clueless about a mums hardships.

Or something more sincere in reply, like
I am glad that we as a team can educate and support each other in such life moments.

Do express your appreciation to the team as you need to focus on your personal front

a better deal than I should, but she calls us out in front of the entire team. She doesn’t have kids so I’m sure she thinks that maternity leaves are vacations, but gosh I just am sick of being called out for having another baby

I agree with the positive response idea/ take the high road: "Thank you for supporting me during this transition, and I'm happy to help where I can before going on leave!"
Def take detailed notes on where you're at in your work starting December. I came back March 1 after a 4 month mat leave... And had to issue all my March 31 deadlines which were completely not handled appropriately πŸ˜‚ if you're friends with your direct manager I recommend asking her to track important info or changes that happen while you're out in word or one drive so you can catch up easily upon return instead of sifting through a thousand emails (literally)
Most importantly, people are jerks sometimes. Just don't let this guilt you into checking email or doing any other work on mat leave!! Babies grow up so fast

Id say something snarky like β€˜Do you want me to move my due date to better accommodate our work schedule…?’ And let her feel like the jackass she is.

like

I don’t like her at all and I feel like people cover for her because she used to be the only one in our department like 6 years ago. She tends to think she knows it all but then won’t delegate anything and then stresses out because of it

Ladies, I need work/fashion tips. I work in center city Philadelphia. Our dress code is β€œbusiness casual.” I want to implement more outfits with sneakers. I struggle with what hem length and pant style (tapered, flare, etc.) work best.
When I look on Pinterest, most of the results show very casual work outfits w/ sneaks & while I think dark wash jeans, blouse and blazers can look cute/presentable, it’s not appropriate for my office (I’m in healthcare).

Crazy ethics issue. Client 1 has VPO against man who later becomes Client 2. This is the 4th VPO this year, previous ones dismissed.

In the meantime, State has filed rape charges against man who becomes Client 2 and A/B charges against Client 1. Client 1 also files for divorce.

Clients reconcile (which is how they both end up clients...) and want VPO dismissed, divorce dismissed, and criminal charges dismissed.

DHS gets involved and want to remove the child from Client 1's custody. (1/2)
