Today I learned EY Israel is unionized. Earlier this month they signed a collective bargaining agreement to increase vacation days, extend parental leave, and more.

The Republicans would never allow unions in the US. The new far right Supreme Court is going to rule all unions are unconstitutional soon… in the US just be happy you have a job.
They literally have 1,400 employees…. Total Americas has > 80,000. No, it’s not possible in North America.
SM1 do you have the freedom to actually utilise your unlimited PTO? In the U.K. they are forced to take x number of days a year plus federal days
Curious what their benefits are and whether actually better than what we get.
Update: an Israeli fish responded to my post in the EY bowl and provided more info.
The 2017 & 2022 collective bargaining agreements focused on securing benefits that exist at Big 4 in other countries, including a training fund for professional licensing, a more generous vacation accrual, paid family leave, reimbursement for overtime meals, etc. The Israeli fish expressed satisfaction with the union because it won tangible improvements that had made working conditions better than pre-2017.
A few interesting things that are different from the US:
- The union includes managers & senior managers. For example the current chair of the Workers Committee is a Tax Manager.
- Promotions are terminations are mostlt unchanged and still merit based, whereas some US unions prefer seniority as basis for promotions and layoffs
- Pay and benefits overall are still behind the US. Israeli Big 4 are not required to disclose financials and are more tight lipped than the US firms, but the information that is available indicate they are just as profitable for their partners. All 4 firms have unionized since 2017
