Have you calculated how much total tax you pay each year? Last year I made $185K and paid $68.5K in total taxes, which includes federal income and payroll taxes (social security and Medicare) and state income tax. 37% of net income went to taxes. How much in taxes are people paying?

Hi i lost majority of my money in the stock market. I married and promised my family that I will not make the mistake I made 7 years ago. Gambling. Is this an addiction I have. I have a 25K loan from my MBA. I paid off 100k whole, after graduation. 3 years ago, I moved my loan from federal to private ( SOFI) account. I recently lost my job. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. I'm going to have to refinance all of them bit I don't really know where to start. I've been holding off because I'm in a contract to hire situation and upon hire (if hired) I'll probably be offered a lower salary.
