Just bc they’re asking if you’d be interested doesn’t mean they’re giving you an offer.
Say that while you’re excited about adding meaningful value to your new role your new role and that you’d really like to end up at Amazon. Based on their feedback, you’re in high-demand but you’d like to keep the dialogue open if something very compelling comes up
Yup definitely not an offer, just wanted to figure out how to gracefully keep this opportunity open. Thanks for this
I would tell them that you’re still considering roles, but had to do what was best for your career. Given the fact that you were rejected for the other position, it’s unreasonable for Amazon to reject you but expect you not to progress forward with another company.
I’m the exact same way. That was the first time that I really did something for myself. And it was well worth it. When the time is right, you’ll know what to do. Trust yourself and everything else will fall into play!
I accepted a role with another company and then withdrew. It stinks, but I was open with the company about what happened and they were understanding. It happens. You have to do what’s best for you. So if you’re interested, say yes. It’s not a guarantee of anything, just an exploration.

Best of luck AC!

Interview if you want it! Shit happens. If your company suddenly lost funding for your position or found out they couldn’t continue your employment, do you think they’d have this much consternation over firing you? No. Don’t give them courtesy they wouldn’t extend back.
Obviously if you made this a habit this would be a bad thing, but if you want to work for Amazon (I like it 🙂), don’t let your current situation stop you.

Excited to hear. Best of luck!
Amazon was my top choice, but I know it’d look so bad if I reneged on my current employer. Just trying to figure out if I should say yes and risk disappointing a lot of people while also being strung along by Amazon, or just end it here, start my new job with a peace of mine, and stay in contact with the recruiter
You can always try for your Amazon role later. Amazon is always hiring
Was this an offer or just an offer to interview? Honestly you probably dodged a bullet based on what I've heard about Amazon

Depends on your team. The company is incredibly decentralized so be sure to ask in your interviews about your potential leadership chain
