Not a chance! I’m going on 24 years as a teacher. By this time, lazy days should be a requirement!🤣
Yes but I take it anyway. I’m working on being better about protecting MY TIME because this is MY LIFE.
I be been teaching 30 years …. I’m taking my lazy days …. And enjoying every one of them. No more feeling guilty .. EVER!!
Ugh .. so lazy I didnt proofread . .. I have been teaching 30 years
Think of them as mental health days not lazy days you'll feel better😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
After 21 years and planning on not doing 30, heck no anymore!!
I want to tell you to be ashamed of yourself for not taking a lazy day. I have had students and parents tell me that they miss me being there but they understand when I needed a break.
Rising Star
Never.
Absolutely not 😎😎😎😎😎
My entire summer has been one protracted lazy day and there is so much guilt!
Nope. Everyone needs a mental health day or a lazy day or whatever you want to call it.
Teaching can be really overwhelming, and sometimes a lazy day is more than necessary. So, hell no!
Rising Star
Nope.
Sort of-on one hand I feel like I’ll have catch up work when I get back but on the other hand, I am things outside of school that are more important when emergencies come up so…
Nope
Not anymore and I take more than one if need be. I’m done with all the guilt admin puts on teachers. It’s not my problem there aren’t enough subs.
First, it's a mental health day.
Second, most schools no longer pay out sick days upon retirement so it's advantageous to use them rather than lose them.
It's harder to plan for a sick day than to just be there and teach it. I have accumulated over 150 sick days over 20 years, but in the last 5 years I have decided to take 1 day off a month for shiggs.
Something to keep in mind: if you have over 65 sick days saved up, you do not need to pay for short term disability coverage.
Since the sick days are not not compensated or only partially in some districts you need to use most of them if possible before retirement or quitting. It's not worthwhile to be a martyr...
No!
Absolutely not! Self care is important, we go above and beyond everyday, so when you need time take it without any guilt whatsoever.
Not one bit! I retired and I’ve been lazy all summer. Ready to get back into the swing of things soon …
Sometimes. Especially if I know I need to be more productive.
