Hi, I recently came across Scaler's MS program, which offers masters degree in collaboration with Woolf University (European University). And, I am looking move to Canada in near future. Will the master degree offered through this course will be accepted by the education evaluation institute WES? If yes, is it considered as equivalent to Canadian Masters degree? First congrats! Maybe they just wanted to get an idea of your plans. Some parents like to take time off.
He needs to know so he can help you plan? Unless he asked rudely
We get 16 weeks 100% paid with support to stay local for 1 year post the 16 week leave
No you just are going to have a harder time getting staffed
Probably just wanted an idea of what your plans are...the overwhelming majority of people are onboard with this whole equality thing despite what others might try and pitch you
This job if you travel and work long hours makes it hard. I am a guy and can't imagine having kids doing this and my wife loves her job and also does well - I don't want her to give that up. I can only imagine how hard this is for my female colleagues.
EY1 why would it be harder for your female colleagues?
EY1 - thanks for explaining that to me. Signed, female partner with 2 kids
Depends how they said it...if it was indicating women with babies shouldn't work, that is unacceptable. However, we can't give people the flexibility they need if we are afraid to initiate a discussion (that can be had with men too...)
You need to tell partner specifically what you want to do and what are your restrictions. They will try to find a project that works for you. In my experience, EY partners are very supportive.
That's uhhh, obvious, PWC1
It's illegal to fire you
Pwc1 - because of societal expectations. In this job, if you are going to have kids, someone needs to stay home typically and most of the time that ends up falling on the women. Unless you have grandparents or a nanny. Missing time also can hurt you. It makes getting staffed more challenging too if time away is upcoming.
You have 8 weeks i think of paid time off and with job protection. But they will put you on local projects for 1 year since your are the primary caregiver. That is the policy.
A3 - Only 8 weeks?
I was asked my view. Great you are a partner and all but when you travel over 100 days a year, I am sure its tough. My sister in law left BCG for Amazon because she didn't see how raising a family how she and her husband wanted to, would work with our lifestyle so people have different perspectives too. I imagine service line and the kind of work you do, will factor in.
It's fair for him to be concerned. Probably 90% of women I've worked with who have had children while working and claim that they will come back to work after maternity leave end up quitting for good within a year of coming back. Your superior probably realizes you're priorities will be very different and that could affect work
