Told my senior manager that my vacation time starts tomorrow. He then scheduled THREE meetings for us tomorrow. Friggin jerk...

Just from the perspective of someone who schedules those meetings, I can tell you for a fact that I can hardly remember when *i* am going on PTO so there's not much hope of me remembering yours. Haha never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

You're not 5 he's not going to put you in time out we're all adults here

Just say you are scheduled to be on PTO. He doesn't know if you are flying somewhere and cannot modify your schedule. If he needed you to work on PTO, that is a conversation that needs to happen.

like

Just say no, I cannot be there I'm on PTO

like

lol I'd never accept someone doing this to me. You route to engaging with your manager is up to you but accepting the outcome that you're going to these meetings is absurd. He knows he can walk all over you

like

This sounds like a win. Three meetings scheduled while on PTO. Three less hours of your life not wasted.

like

Well, I said "I'm on vacation starting tomorrow", which should have implied the full day. But now I can't sign off until 12 😤

like

I have yet to have a senior manager who remembers when people's vacations are even if you remind them constantly. They forget and schedule meetings.

like

^sorry. Three less hours of your life wasted. I may or may not be wasted.

like

I have trouble remembering this. Please remind me.

He didn't say what time tomorrow

"Friggin jerk" hahahah

@EY, I can't. I'd get in HUGE trouble

Forget him don't show. If you had a flight to cancun would you reschedule? Heck no. Goodbye

Hit him back with a personal day.

Well, he has now asked for a meeting Thursday from 8:30-9:30 am. I'm taking this one and then telling him that as of 9:30, I will be on vacation until the 3rd. Hopefully he respects the time that I've put into the schedule and will stop bugging me!

Unable to decide to leave my current company. They are actively blocking my growth and I got an offer for a title promotion, but a significant pay cut. The new job offers $100k, 26 days pto, hybrid 2/3 remote, 37.5 hours a week. My current job (7yrs) offers $102k, 42 days pto, office optional 35 hrs a week. With the new job being in CT, the increase in taxes, 3x increase in insurance premium, and travel to and from, I am looking at $700 a month pay cut. Is career advancement worth $700 a month?

Just signed an offer for msft and setting a tentative start date. The manager seems flexible between a 8/1-8/15 start date. I was targeting a 8/15 start date so I could two weeks off and recharge my mental health while keeping my insurance, but the recent slowdowns and news of (very minor) layoffs at msft and other companies like Google have me seconding guessing myself. Any advice on what to do? Start ASAP or take time off and rest - 2 weeks shouldn’t change anything unless Coinbase happened

Company called me on Monday to say they want to give me an offer then asked me for what my pay requirement is. They’d already asked me in the initial HR screening and informed me my number was a little over their cap and told me what their cap was. So this time I asked for $1k under the cap. Said they’d send me the offer letter after checking the pay is okay. Haven’t heard from them since lol. What the heck??!
