I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.

Looking for advice. Do you think it’s best to stay with a solid team/supportive management but lower salary or jump to another agency for more $? Learning how much I’m underpaid from recruiters. 😕
Is there actual risk, not speculation, of the firm taking away bonus if you give notice after comp statement issued (Aug 26) but before paycheck deposit (Sept 6)? Has anyone’s bonus been taken back?
My mortgage banker called me to ask why I refinanced my mortgage after only 3 months of loan payments (I got a better rate elsewhere). He was angry; I think it might have impacted his team’s bonus. Did he have a reason to get mad or did I do nothing wrong?
Hey y'all! I just accepted an offer with Microsoft in the FRP. Does anyone have any recommendations for progressing within the company and making the most of the opportunity? I've heard a lot of stories of how crazy the salary can get so I'm definitely interested in hearing about various experiences! Potentially pivoting into consulting/product management. I'm honestly very open to multiple pathways and at this moment aiming for promotion and exposure asap!
Recently relocated to a new city (MCOL) from HCOL, got a big salary bump, was thinking about saving money and got a really cheap studio. But I hate the place so far for 1) I can hear noise for everything 2) The place is too small 3) emotional depressed for living in such a small place. Should I pay 1.5X rent to get out here and get a nice place?

Are MBB/consulting experience + technical masters (e.g., data science, CS) ever complementary when looking at exit opps, or are they too different to overlap (or, in other words, will the former have been a waste of time if pursuing the latter)?
Anyone successfully taken money out of 401k or IRA to use for downpayment? Is this a smart idea? I keep hearing for tax purposes it is but would love some insight and guidance. Currently have 15k in cash for downpayment but feeling a little uncomfortable with having just straight cash money and looking for options. TIA

Going to my first in-person local networking event since covid after work today. I’m worried I forgot how to be a human in public over the past 18 months. Used to be relatively good at working a room (for someone who codes) but it was a skill I worked at for years before the pandemic hit. Do y’all have any advice?
A partner submitted my resume to her firm’s recruiting department and I got called in for an interview. I’m researching the interviewers and one is the hiring attorney. Is that a good sign or routine? (I haven’t worked in big law to know.)

Thoughts on cyber exit opportunities from B4 to tech or defense firms with 2 years of software security experience and active sec+? Have heard work life balance and hands on experience are more common in industry
Due to some room mate shifting I am going to shift from paying 900 a month to about 1300. Only other option was getting a single for 1400, I live in a low cost of living city so didn’t think getting a studio would be worth it consider I work from home. Total compensation will be just other 90k this year. Any tips for making sure I stay on the FIRE PATH? Concerned that I’m now forking over an extra 5k after tax in rent and realizing that losing potential room mates has huge financial implication
I’m a 2nd yr. in M&A (if relevant: I’m billing on average 176 hrs, lowest month was 144, highest was 281, not getting paid market about 20-30k below). I’m considering a lateral move to Latham. Would love insight on the M&A group and the NY office as a whole, specifically culture but any insight or advice is appreciated.
