took a 4 day weekend and it's making it extra hard to go back to work tomorrow 😭

It’s always hard. I’ve been a lawyer for 39 years and I dread the long weekends. I love the time off, but going back is awful.

Some of it gets better as you get older. Fewer things bother you, but your friends start to get sick and … yes, it’s inevitable. You also know how to do more things so work becomes less stressful.

So how can you make it better? Enjoy each moment. Try not to think about Monday on Sunday afternoon. And if you’re lucky enough to get a four day weekend — savor it, make it last, create memories that can carry you through those deep, dark nights in the office!

I currently work in Marketing for a residential construction company. One of my main responsibilities is networking with realtors & lenders (planning events, coordinating office presentations, etc.) in order to network with them so they will bring their clients to our sales team. I’ve realized I can make a lot more money working in insurance as an insurance broker focused on realtors & lenders. I would love to hear the good, the bad, the ugly, of working in insurance + any tips you can share!

I love my career, but it's not the only thing in the world that matters to me. My direct supervisor has been trying to schedule meetings with me well after normal working hours... like at 7/8 p.m. My personal life deserves to be a priority too, so I've been saying no, but it's obviously viewed as a lack of caring. How should I handle this?

Any big law lawyers here from Toronto, Canada??

Currently in ID. A recruiter reached out with a plaintiffs side property/personal injury offer. The pay is $100-200k depending on experience. Since I can’t get anymore details out of the recruiter, and don’t have any knowledge of that side of the aisle l, is there a catch here? I always figured plaintiffs side had a lower base pay but got the real money from settlements.

I switched two years ago from regional real estate/energy to a local small, but established residential real estate practice. While I’ve gained so much practical experience and run my own book here, I want to shift to a non-traditional remote role in real estate but keep getting turned down. I have strong credentials but I’m worried this small firm experience is killing my marketability to large companies.

I am a post bar graduate and currently seeking employment. I did not graduate from a top tier school, but I did graduate in the top third of my class as a dual-degree graduate. About a week ago, a partner at a big law firm connected with me on LinkedIn. He asked if I had a job lined up. I told him no and he responded that I should let him know if there is anything his firm or he can do to help me. We have a meeting with each other in two weeks. Is this a big law opportunity?
