Chewing and destroying stuff means they’re bored. Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog!
Crate training is a definite for my dog since she likes to destroy stuff but she looks so innocent

Sour apple spray to help prevent that little angel from chewing up the furniture
One week into having my pup and it has been quite challenging. Definitely recommend bitter spray and trying to crate train quickly. Wishing you the best!

Routines are key. Playtime is key. Give them love but they also need discipline if you want them to develop into well-behaved pups. I’d probably wait until they’re like 3-4 months before trying to train them with treats as many breeds have very sensitive stomachs when they’re that young (my golden had a tough time with figuring out which food worked for him; ended up going with science diet). Enjoy life with your new fur-child/best friend 😄.
Get your pup a playpen and crate train for sure. We’ve gotten 2 dogs from a young age <4 months old and crate training worked really well for both. Once they are good in the crate you can start working them into a playpen and then around 6 months can start letting them have freedom(while keeping an eye on them). Our German Shepard is now almost 2 years old and at around the 8 month point he started to be a lot more reliable to leave alone without him chewing everything up.
Do you guys give your puppies any teething chewys at week 8? I read that those should start at week 12.
Cut up a towel into strips and roll each strip up, wet it, and then freeze it. Every dog I’ve had has loved these as teething toys
First few weeks? More like first 18 months lol
The next 18 are slightly less difficult but still not easy lol
Crate training and lots of treats! Do your best to stick to a schedule, that way the puppy learns what to expect. Reward all good behavior and redirect bad behavior. Avoid just saying no - puppy won’t learn what that means. Get natures miracle to remove the enzyme and odor for any accidents.
Crate training for sure. Puppies can behave like puppies for up to two years! Consistency in discipline is key.
Congratulations by the way!
Congrats by the way! Super cute pup! 🐾🐾
Don’t give your pup rawhide! Its not healthy and can’t be digested. Try bully sticks + a bully stick holder. SafetyChew is our favorite and their stick quality is amazing. It’s been a lifesaver especially when working from home with a pup. Safetychew.com
