What is your favorite part about Nashville during the holidays/Christmas? I have a client coming to town and I'm trying to make recommendations, but this is my first holiday season in the city. Anything goes, client is young (30s) & fairly wealthy.
Was your firm open as usual today or did everyone get a paid holiday off? My firm was open and I’m wondering how common this is. Please say city and size. Mine is Los Angeles, plaintiff’s PI. Mid size
If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)
How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond. I was given an additional title and more responsibilities last year as well but only a 3% raise for it.
I have an opportunity for a new position with higher pay, fully remote with the option of going into the local office whenever I want, unlimited PTO, within a growing industry and in a role that I could then easily transition into pretty much any tech company - but its a drop in title. I’d be going from Director to senior manager - but this is also a much bigger company. I’m fine with it but I’m wondering how it might look on my résumé in the future. Has anyone deal w this before? Any thoughts?
Would you take time off after you got your green card (i.e. quit) before finding a another job? I know it's a risk, but with the option available, seems like it's not so bad...
Being a realtor is not what I expected! I was so excited when I joined being younger, but nowadays it's all work and too little time off. It's a bit frustrating because I'm not sure where to go from here. I've been doing this for 5 years now. Any help on what choice to make? I do not have a backup plan.
I had some major life events this year for which I had to take a large chunk of time off, and with half the year already gone, I’m getting worried about making the hours for my bonus. Is it always an “all or nothing” or do firms give prorated bonuses in certain situations?
🎄How do you plan to recharge over the holiday? Are you taking time off? Do you plan to reset or rest at all before the New Year?

24 years old. International Solo trip recommendations for about 7 days? Thinking a more relaxing, cultural (site seeing but also time to sit back and relax) vacation instead of partying / drinking.
Recos for warm vacation spots that are close to as easy as an all inclusive to plan but is not actually an all inclusive? Something that has easy access to a beach and somewhat of a town/village with restaurants and stuff? I’m super tired and need to recharge but hate all inclusives.
What restaurants are serving on Christmas? Hoping to take my out-of-town relatives somewhere nice for the holiday.
I thought a long vacation would fix my lack of motivation, but instead I’m even more demotivated than I was before I took a break…
How is the job market for all of the MBBs when it comes to experienced analyst-equivalent hires? I recently got referrals in for all three but wondering if I should I spend time over the holidays on case and behavioral prep even though I don’t have an interview yet. I’m a bit burned out so would love to spend the holiday time to recharge but will certainly put prep first if I need to do so. Any insight would be so tremendously appreciated!
24/m I’m feeling really on edge lately. I’m not sure why. I literally yelled like a lunatic at the teams notification sound a few minutes ago
I’m not sure what’s wrong. But I think I’m frustrated with work and maybe the city I live in. I moved far away and I made a few friends but not a lot. I took a vacation a few weeks ago and thought it would help but I think it made it worse. It’s so cold outside that it’s hard to exercise. What would you all suggest
I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant and looking for a new role (13YOE, tech/ad tech in my last few roles). I took time off at the beginning of the year for a travel sabbatical with husband then found out we were expecting when we returned this summer. I’ve been looking for a new role since then but struggling in this job market. I’m feeling defeated, thinking there’s no way I can land a job now then go on Mat leave soon after (due mid Jan). At the same time, I want to secure a role for my career.
Got an offer for an in-house role and they only have 10 days off for vacation with a few days additional for sick time off.
For me it’s a major concern, has anyone successfully negotiated additional vacation time and if they have how did they go about it. Was it a successful outcome ?

When you’re new to a fairly smallish team, is it best practice to put in 15 mins with each partner for a brief intro? Or is that going above and beyond?
Just moved to sunny San Diego with my fiancée and don’t have any friends in the city! Anyone open to grabbing a drink in the coming weeks? Currently in North Park

We added one new member to the bowl this week! Rock and roll my fish friends. Your task for the week is to add a fish, be transparent at work, and work to some day take over Charlie’s job.
Ever since I started in advertising I have been given polar opposite critiques on my work. Some say I’m great while others say this isn’t the job for you. How do you keep telling yourself that you are worth it when a current manager doesn’t believe in you? I can’t seek out a different team as this is a small agency with a team of 20 and one creative director. I know feedback is subjective but it can be hard when you have one boss and they think you have been missing it lately.

My spouse drinks once a week, but he gets wasted when he does and he says he needs the release. He can control not to drink, even for months, which is great, but when he does drink, he can’t drink in moderation. Should I worry?

I particularly don't want to work in this last week of the year because I want the billable hours to count towards 2022.

Third year corporate boutique in a midsized city. Is this normal? I feel like I’m a clerk. All I do is draft ancillary documents for transactions (not the items of substance), incorporations, update minute books, filing amending/dissolution documents, resolutions, prepare annual meeting documents, do searches, etc. Starting to worry about how badly im falling behind.

Is it a wise career decision to go from a national firm to a local but strong firm? Practiced with the national firm for a year and a half. The firms are the same type of law, but the smaller firm has less billable requirements and is offering higher salary/better bonus structure as well as more independence such as ability to completely run own case load.
