Top 5 MBA programs for MBB/T2? Bonus points if you can weight in on how difficult it is to break in from those MBA programs (is it still a crapshoot)?

Sorry to be that person, but all of this is accessible online in a better format than we can provide. All schools publish lists of where graduating students work and most will list how many students are going to each company. You can then calculate the % from each school doing MBB/T2. I wouldn’t call it a crapshoot, but anything is doable with substantial preparation and hard work.

Right, I should probably check those lists.

As for my comment re: it being a crapshoot, I was hoping to hear from you about the likelihood of breaking in from those schools with some effort. I work in Finance atm, and I can tell you that almost everyone who tries to break into IB post-MBA makes it. This is mainly because of the significant shortage resulting from the huge turnover after the 2 year analyst stint. Can the same be said in MC? Specifically at MBB.

Not related to MBA, and not trying to be inspirational or anything, but on your ask around it being a crapshoot: I half heartedly applied to consulting for 3 years and got nowhere, once I properly applied myself and put in the work required I ended up with 3x T2 strategy offers and an MBB final round. It’s absolutely possible, for anyone, if you’re willing to do what it takes! Good luck

I guess you need to work on your specific weaknesses. Maths tests are used to screen out applicants here in London, so I worked a lot on numerical reasoning as well as mental/case math (notable weakness for me). Took a course on case interviews. Spoke with everyone I knew in consulting about what it was actually like so I could give convincing reasons why I wanted to work in the industry.

It’s not a crapshoot anymore given how much we are hiring. In last two years I would say 75%+ of anyone who wanted an MBB offer got one at many top schools (whether intern or full-time) . It doesn’t really matter which one you go to outside of the top 10. There’s also regional considerations — if you want to be in Chicago, go Booth/Kellogg. For SF - Haas is good. But honestly it doesn’t matter that much — only borderline is if you want to go NY/SF they focus more on higher ranked schools so a bit harder from the Darden/Fuqua/etc

Understood, thank you

Top 5 mbas for the top firms? I think your answer is in your question. Not much of a crapshoot if you have a very strong profile and recs

Please see above response. Would you consider that to be a strong profile?

Hi fishes, need your advice, having a hard time narrowing down the field which would be best for me. I have an exp of 3 years in the field of pension and finance. Was involved in setting up of payments and calculations of the UK clients retirement, death etc. Since the company used their own personal tool to calc and do other things which is unique to them. Having a hard time showing this on my CV to enable HR to identify it. Would grateful if you all could help me in this aspect.

Has anyone successfully negotiated taking a bit of extra time off before starting a new job? I’m excited about my new role, but feeling so burnt out (part of the reason I’m leaving consulting). I know time would be so good for my mental health, but feel nervous and unsure how to ask for it. I’m accepting my new offer this week and staying at current job through end of June . . . I’d love to ask to start in earlyish august . . . Is that a ridiculous amount of time to ask for??

If the information is available online about who your client’s auditor is, do you still stray away from telling people outside of the firm what client you work on?
