Total 6+ YOE:
2 YOE Big4 public accounting and 4+ YOE internal audit. Currently making $93k base + 10% bonus

My current job has decent WLB; however unless someone leaves the team, I am stuck where I am. The job gets boring and every day I feel I am dragging myself in front the laptop.

My son is turning 10months soon, for my next move looking for 1) decent WLB, and 2) big pay bump. Is it possible in audit world? Or do I need to consider a career change? If so, what would you suggest? Thanks!

Find a remote IA manager role, spend time with your son if that's really what you want

IA can be difficult to escape. Do you have any specialization like IT audit?

I have exposure to IT audits, but mainly operational audits. Would any certification help? I have my CPA.

Currently in that situation . I would say a BIG 4 kinda guarantes you promotion .. Well, some all fully remote depending on your team

Stories like these make me glad I have stayed in Big 4.

Tbh idk. Chicken or egg. High achievers will be high achievers anywhere, and the opposite is true too

Let me know if you want a referral

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.

I am too confused. On job security we all know we can't guarantee anything.

Our firm is establishing our target billable %'s at a small public accounting firm. Is there a website that gives target billable time % by staff level for the tax and accounting industry? Just started poking around the AICPA website, but would appreciate being able to save some time looking for it. I'm used to a lower % rate than what's being proposed (70% vs 85%) and don't want to cause undue pressure on staff, but do want to give a reasonable billable hours expectation going forward.

Apart from the attributes and skills required, what are the absolute basics I should add to my stack? So far I've identified Google Analytics, JIRA, wireframing tools like Balsamiq, agile. Please add on to these if you know.
