Since we’ve been remote since last year, I took the opportunity to travel nationally and get my job done. I was recently informed that I cannot work outside the MSA of the address (Chicago) mentioned in my H1B and hence just returned back to Chicago. However, I’m trying to figure out my Thanksgiving and Christmas plans, and would like to travel to another state and work from there for a couple weeks. Is there a maximum time period during which I can work outside of Chicago? Thank you.

Basically is the pay jump/hybrid worth giving up current practice area to ID? My firm is lockstep then goes black box. Recently, us associates have started openly discussing what our raises and bonuses have been the past several years. I, a young female who has one of the highest billable hour counts in the firm, just learned I am routinely getting lower raises and bonuses than my male peers. I don’t work in big law, but some of my classmates,who are going into big law, are bragging about the low number of billable hours they are required to hit. I’m hearing 1,600-1,800 billable hours. Is this actually true? Are some firms paying Cravath and only requiring 1,600 for the year? I know it depends on the firm, but can anyone actually confirm this is their experience?
