Couple reasons:
-never sold to public
-cobranded Rolex dials are rare in general
-production was extremely limited
-but extensively advertised by Rolex back in the day
-some ref numbers have helium escape valves, which is unique for subs
-own a unique part of Rolex history
-watch itself will probably have a unique history, thinking that a French deepsea diver used the watch while doing underwater construction
-given that the original owners used their subs for actual diving, a lot of COMEX subs were lost, damaged, and in general harder to come by in good condition (though later references were used more as commerative gifts by COMEX given improvements in diving tech)
Oh wow 😯 had no idea these weren’t sold to the general public. Interesting that Rolex would advertise a product that they’re not even selling
I'll raise you a superior co-branded Rolex, the Domino's Air King

Any double-signed Rolex generally commands a premium, but the COMEX watches were produced in very small quantities and were never available for sale directly to the public.

Kinda like the Arab dials with the kingdom's swords
Very true, I’ve seen that on Daytonas and Subs. I’ve also seen similar iconography on rare Seikos as well
Rarity, and because John Mayer said so.
There was a recent “Talking Watches” episode w/ Grahame Fowler (designer) who has a collection of mostly COMEX Subs and other rare Rolex Submariners. Here’s the link — https://youtu.be/W3mJvo8_vEU
