Everyone will/should tell you there's no such thing as timing the market, only time in the market. It's a saying for a reason (especially with etf and index funds). If you're really trying to time it for another dip, set up the brokerage account and transfer the money over. Fyi Less thought goes into throwing money into a sp500 index fund

I have half DCA, half on brokerage cash waiting on a dip. Why not both?
Semi new to this as well but feel like the right answer is time in the market > timing the market
To echo this. If the market goes to shit and hell in a hand basket we probably have larger problems at hand.
Advice above is good, but if the election is a concern (understandable) then put half of what you'd invest in now until after the election and see where the market goes. Since trump created an environment where he says he is the best thing that's happened to the market ever, I could see a dip if he loses. At the end of the day though, the market has gone up since the last election, so putting money in now is not going to hurt you.
Put 1k into a total market / S&P 500 ETF on September 1st and set it to auto contribute 1k on the 1st of every month moving forward. Boom your done
I would say, split it into 3-4 times a month or weekly contributions. In the long run it won’t matter but DCA might make sense in this craziness.
