Totally new to this subject, so please pardon any ignorance. How do you recommend best making use of my savings? In my first job out of college, no debt, have about 25k saved between a standard savings account and a brokerage account. I’m able to save about 1-1.5k of my salary monthly. What’s the best way to divide my savings? Should I max out my Roth while I’m in a lower tax bracket and then prioritize 401k? What are my options, and what resources are out there for guidance and info? Thank you!

Some companies do Roth 402k. I’d say: company match -> Roth IRA -> max out retirement -> mega backdoor or other pre-retirement age investment for income. (Last 2 should be prioritized based on need)

Invest in tesla and square to eventually sell covered calls and buy bitcoin. I know people here are going write this off but I’m actually serious look into this strategy and I’m more than happy to explain more if you want to dm

You’re advising someone with $25k to follow this strategy?

You need 100 shares for covered calls. Tesla is currently trading at $400 😂

Seems awfully high risk for someone who needs to get a baseline going first.

I would do dollar cost averaging, or just stick the majority of it in an index fund that tracks the US Market or the S&P 500. The remaining balance should be used to help cover living expenses and to have enough money in case of an emergency (aka an Emergency Fund).

I’ve been listening to “millionaires unveiled” (highly recommend for FIRE content) and it seems like every other guest ends up doing real estate investing. If you do it, what books or online courses would you recommend to get started? If you have experience in real estate investing, would you ultimately recommend it?

Hello Fb! I'm 30 yrs old. I'm trying to figure out and plan my life to set myself up for success in the future. I wish I had known things like enrolling in a high deductible health plan at 24 when I started work so that I could enroll in a HSA for the triple tax savings or the importance of maxing out a Roth IRA or maxing out a 401K and not just to the employer match. What are some things you wish you had known earlier or by age 30? In some ways, I feel like I'm late in the game. See more 👇🏻

In my HSA I am holding 4% in ARKG and 4% in PBW (clean energy index). Both are down 50%... looking to consolidate my funds, so I am considering selling them both and allocating the 8% into something like XT? I understand I made those purchases in times of extreme optimism, so that is an F on my part.

My other funds in there are 64% VTI, 16% VXUS, 5% VWO and 7% EMQQ.

Looking to buy, hold, and DCA. Would you swap ARKG/PBW for something like XT?

I’d love to retire by 35. I know about the 25x expenses rule for a 4% withdrawal rate, but how does that account for 401ks that I can’t access until my 50’s? What about real estate?

I’m 26.
•$150k in 401k/IRA
•$220k in real estate (excl. primary)
•$88k in cash/brokerage
• the rest in HSA/primary home/other.

To calculate FIRE, am I only looking at the $88k that I can access readily? Real estate is cash flowing, but not sure how/if to factor in the equity.

Thanks in advance!

I am in my early 40's and have about $300K invested and some in cash. I have $70K in credit card debt (no lavish lifestyle, just 2 bouts of unemployment and some major medical expenses, even after insurance).

I live below my means, LCOL city, used car, max my 401K, save my bonuses, etc.

I am going to get a large bonus where after tax, I'll get a couple hundred thousand.

Should I prioritize pay off all credit cards or pay down half/some of the cards and use the rest for a house down payment?

Mortgage strategy question: moving from HCOL to MCOL city, selling current house and buying a new one. Will net enough equity from the sale for up to 20% down payment. How do you think about mortgage rates, points, PMI, etc for the new purchase? I'm in favor of putting less down and investing the difference, but not if the terms are worse.

And I'm talking with both a broker and a credit union - is one better than the other?
