Tough weekend personally. Took extended time off last year so I am reluctant to take off tomorrow. But I may burst into tears when the team asks tomorrow how the weekend was. I know it will get better but in the meantime, can’t tell the truth and can’t hide it either.

Word of warning, check your employee handbook about unused PTO. Apparently in New York State, even with labor laws protecting unpaid PTO, if it’s written in any employee handbook or material that unused PTO is waived when you quit, that‘s all the employer has to do to get out of paying you.

My firm just switched to unlimited vacation days. People whose firms already have this policy, how's this policy actually work in reality? Do you take less days than you used to?

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

I’ve been reflecting and realized I have a lot of unhealed trauma and my mind is just fucked. Sometimes I wish my brain was normal like other people. So tired of the attachment, obsession, rumination, anxiety, depression. 😔 So much work to do and meds to take just to try and be a normal person.

Is it just me or does consulting really make you insecure about yourself - doing the best you can but can it ever be enough? Also, what’s with all the optics and crazy judgment all the time?

Hey all, not to be that person, but I very much struggled and still have my bouts with depression. Going gluten free (strict for months to see improvement) helped me an insane amount with getting rid of my depression and lifting the fog. I still have anxiety but cutting out coffee has helped. Just passing along my experience in case it might help someone.

It’s been one of those days. Crying nonstop and feeling just AWFUL. The thing is, can’t even pinpoint what is giving me so much agony. Probably the current state of the world and my life but that’s largely unchanged since a month or so ago. So why does a day like today happen out of nowhere? Does this happen to anyone else? How do you deal?

I know my anxiety is getting in the way of my legal work. I have writer's block every time I need to prepare pleadings or a Response. Some harsh criticism my writing skills a year ago has really gotten to me. I realize I am being ridiculous, but if rational thinking were enough to overcome anxiety then none of us would be in here. Do any of you have go to methods for conquering your anxiety and just getting the work done?

Anyone have any experience of beginning to take an ssri for anxiety/depression and the initial 5-6 days anxiety levels being through the roof and the inability to sleep. I started taking 50 mg of Zoloft (this is my third try at an ssri) on Monday and I’ve probably slept a total of 10 hrs since then due to it. My body has always been sensitive to medication so possibly that’s it - do I lower dose to 25 or just say screw it as I don’t know if my body/brain is taking a liking to this kind of medic

Do any of you have days when you start getting rid of all of your stuff? I think of end of life ceremonies a lot, so when I see all my stuff, I get overwhelmed by it bigtime and want to sell it off.
