To directly answer the question, yes, a Health Spending Account (HSA) is an option for PwC Canada staff. As other fish have mentioned, provincial health care covers most costs for citizens and permanent residents. When you make your benefit choices with PwC, you choose your level of coverage for dental, vision, and drugs and some extras like disability and life insurance. Depending on the options you choose, you may have some left over dollars that you can allocate to an HSA. You can also take that money as (taxable) cash, or put it in your RRSP (401k equivalent).
Not an expert on Canadian healthcare, but unlike the US, isn’t healthcare in Canada largely government provided? As such, would you need an HSA like the US?
For Canadians and permanent residents everything but non-medical dental, vision and drugs are covered by taxes. The remainder is what your health benefits cover.
Not sure how it works for a non citizen or non PR.
Transfering from which country? How'd you manage it btw?
OP I am in the same boat. Can we connect?
