There's never really any guarantee that there will be tons of jobs in your chosen major. If it's something that you're truly passionate about, then I'd say stick with it. If not, then follow your heart. But just keep in mind that whatever you switch to could end up being the same situation by the time you graduate. It's all a risk, really.
A pure ux designer job is pretty rare in my experience but the jobs are definitely out there
If you're really interested in the career path, then I would stick it out. But a job that is purely about UX design is fairly rare, so I would recommend taking some business classes or trying out some things that revolve around the industry. UX design goes pretty hand in hand with marketing and the business world.
As someone in the field, I'd recommend it! I absolutely love my job as a UX Consultant, wouldn't trade it for anything else.
That being said - a degree isn't enough to land that first gig. You need a strong portfolio and a strong network in order to stand out amongst the swaths of applicants you'll be up against. We had ONE job open for entry level this year, and there were 2000 applicants for it.
Alongside your class work, you should be going to LA startup events and meeting designers already in the field. Once you feel ready, get involved on campus or with local non-profits and offer services for free. Real-world case studies make for a stand out portfolio.
