Transitioning to another big4 advisory practice next month. Worried about networking and learning a new role virtually. Any advice? Anyone else make a transition during COVID?

I transferred during COVID and it was hard for sure. It’s harder to find a project since people prefer bringing in people they’ve worked with before. But I would suggest asking your peer advisor or counselor to introduce you to people within the practice. Set up coffee chats with them. Talk about the practice a little build a rapport with them and you’ll slowly feel more at home. I’m still not 100% there but atleast don’t feel like an outsider. Hope this helps! ☺️

I switched service lines during COVID. Networking is definitely tough and has taken longer to meet people. Force yourself to be diligent about setting up intro calls with people, joining office meetings or diversity initiatives, working with different people on different projects, get involved with office groups like recruiting, etc. Once you do meet someone be consistent with staying in touch. Good luck!

You have to stay on top of people if you’re lost. I’m probably annoying with my pings but if I don’t understand I ask and will ping multiple times if no response or eventually just throw a meeting on someone’s calendar

Serious q: I'm choosing between a two BI/Ops type roles, one in a FAANG in Dublin, one in a less-known corporate in London (where I'm currently based). FAANG pays 70% more and is a more interesting / more senior role, but I'd prefer staying in London where all my friends are / where it's warmer and sunnier. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna take the FAANG role, but has anyone else struggled with this type of career vs. personal life trade-off, and how did you reason about it?
