First and foremost prior to traveling make sure you are strong clinically; you have to be bc you only get 1-2 days of training and you are expected to hit the floor running. If you are traveling alone for safety reason I would say start local. Use Vivian health to compare rates and always work with at least 3 agencies. Travel is DEFINITELY worth it! It’s the most $$ you’ll see in bedside care!
Sorry, I’m just seeing this I’m not very active on here. I have a few, American Medical staffing, AMN, Flexwise health. You can try Aya (they lowball in certain areas). Vivian health is indeed for travel nurses, start there it’ll connect you to recruiters
If you’re feeling called to, you absolutely should. Agree with above^, have a solid foundation because you’ll lose mentorship and clinical growth can begin to plateau. Start by reading travel nurse forums (just google first time travel nurse etc) so you can begin to understand important questions you need to ask recruiters and contracts before committing to anything. Always take a lower hourly wage if the difference can be applied to stipends (stipends arent taxed). And I’d recommend going somewhere w a buddy or where you at least know someone. The adjustment can be overwhelming at first. But definitely give it a go! There will always be a staff nursing job available for ya if you decide traveling isn’t for you.
Same! I want to leave the toxic workplace ( HCA) and start traveling
I would say go for it. I have a friend who does it and absolutely loves it.
