About to join KPMG Lighthouse in a couple weeks. Received an email about a KPMG lakehouse on campus event in Orlando. I think it is supposed to be an orientation event. With Omicron looming and unvaxxed toddlers at home, I am wondering if I can say NO to this travel. Any KPMG folks who know if this is avoidable and not going to put me in bad light?

Switching to a tumi backpack instead of a shoulder laptop bag was a game changer for traveling
Classic laptop bag will ruin your shoulder and back

The tips is don’t buy anything yet, since the models of luggage will be outdated by the time we travel again! But if you find good sales, then could be worth it
- Tumi or Briggs and Riley backpack and luggage
- Noise cancelling headphones. The Bose NC700 or QC35 or Sony XM4s
- portable battery pack

I'll be looking for you on Amtrak, twin!

Not luggage, but noise cancelling headphones. Even just for sleeping on the plane without music on.
I found that using an organizing box (designed for drawers) from ikea and putting my clean, folded dress shirts, made it for easier and faster ironing at the hotel.

Unless you're driving everywhere, get some kind of backpack for your laptop - your arm/ back will thank you in the long term

Briggs and Riley Baseline upright garment bag - this assumes you usually wear a suit, sport jacket, or dresses. It’s purpose-built for business travelers who typically dress business casual or professional.
I pair it with the Baseline cabin bag from B&R - the latter holds my gym stuff and laptop & iPad.

One other protip - amenity kits from business class flights (esp. the Tumi pouches Delta has used since mid-2019) are awesome for cable storage while on the road. You can also usually fit a mouse in there.
Makes getting your stuff out when you sit down on the plane very easy.

Does anyone prefer shoulder bags over backpacks?
I prefer shoulder bags purely for aesthetic. It doesn’t bother me because you can put it over your carry on luggage and wheel it everywhere in the airport. Outside of that I don’t have to wear it too much that it becomes much of a burden. But I completely understand the preference of backpacks.
All Tumi shoulder bags come with a sleeve that slips over Carry-on luggage handles
