Traveling for the first time since March. Making little goodie bags for United staff - checkin, lounge, gate agents, and flight crew. Thinking a starbucks gift card and a mini holiday chocolate set in a small gift bag. Any alternative ideas? I thought about sanitizer or wipe packs but don’t want to deal with liquid in security assuming tsa pre-check isn’t up and running again at SNA. ✈️ 💺

This is so sweet of you! You’re going to make some folks very happy 😊

They’re not gonna want them because they aren’t sanitized. Would you want a bag of candy from a stranger

Super thoughtful! I miss giving the airline club staff members gift cards. They were always incredibly appreciative!

Hot chocolate bombs? S’more kits? Depending on how much $ on the gift card, I’d honestly just skip that altogether

Looking up hot chocolate bombs! I already have mini gift bags that hold a gift card and a small something so just deciding what the best combo would be. 🎄

That reminds me of the time I nearly missed boarding an international flight and I had a 3 lb bag of dark chocolates that I was planning on distributing to local children at the destination country but I was so grateful they held the gate open I gave the whole bag to gate agents

A few years ago snowmagedon slammed the east coast and a flight hadn’t left NYC in 3 days. I bought $80 worth of cupcakes for the United lounge agents. They started by saying “you can’t bring food in here” but when I explained they were for them I suddenly was on a flight, in first, and sat next to Kevin Bacon 😂 Not beneath bribes. Lol

So nice of you!! Gift card even for a small coffee is awesome other ideas...some wrapped candies, gum or mints, wrapped cookie or sweet, bath salts, a single use face mask, protein bar, holiday socks, small candle, mini coloring book...

Don’t let anyone distract you; it is incredibly thoughtful.

Big surprise several years ago: flight attendant is coming down the aisle. I look right at her and ask ‘how are you doing tonight?’.

She stops dead in her tracks and says ‘in 24 years of flying, no one has ever asked me that. I am buying you dinner and drinks’. I nearly fell out of my seat.

So you gift will be seen as uncommon courtesy. Fly on, Deloitte, fly on.

Agree - I almost didn’t do this based on comments above. After reading the note I got in response, I know it was a small gesture that had a much larger impact on an industry ransacked by covid. I shouldn’t have doubted myself. Kindness is always the right answer. Merry Christmas!

I’m currently at a hospitality design firm in the DC area and while i love working on cool hotel projects, the work culture is toxic. Coworkers all gossip about each other, coworkers pass off blame when things go wrong on a project, and the principal doesn’t do anything about issues. The firm has no structure, workflow, standards, etc. and the company is very cheap and does not invest money into their staff. I make 65k with 4 yr experience. Should i leave?

Hi there. a bit of a vent so if no one reads to the end, that’s aok. But I first interviewed for a general finance role for a startup about a month ago with the CEO. I’m early in my career and he knew I didn’t have a ton of experience but I was excited/willing to learn. Since then, I’ve had conversations with 7 others for this company of <50 and even used some PTO to visit their office. I’m a ‘great fit’ but just got rejected for a lack of experience; am I missing something?

Just had a very uncomfortable conversation with a partner. I have some time off booked to go to my brother’s wedding (I’m the best man). We were chatting and I mentioned that my brother’s future husband is so nice and really a great guy, and we already consider him a member of our family. Partner’s tone immediately shifts and as we’re ending the call he says, “Okay, enjoy the time with your family at the civil ceremony.” Like… girl you live in California, you cannot be this backward.

I'm currently in a process for senior associate at a Big4. The process began on July, yet between the first and second interview it took like 3-4 weeks. And between the 2nd and 3rd like 7 weeks. I sent an email to HR during those weeks asking for an update and didn't have an answer. Then it a 3rd one was scheduled three times (the manager didn't connect to the first 2) and next week I have the last interview with 1 partner. Is the timing normal? Or were they looking for other candidates or what?
