I spent 6 weeks in Southeast Asia with a 40L backpack. Definitely super achievable with normal carryons. It’s hot climate so your really only need one light jacket and a rain coat. I would recommend not bringing jeans, but instead light linen pants or maybe leggings for temples. You can also buy elephant pants there for this. Otherwise, as Accenture1 said, reuse your clothes/do laundry while you’re there
Since it’s hot, you can get away with tinier clothes. Reuse shorts often, wear 1 pair of jeans on plane... tank tops, dresses, only sandals and wear your travel shoes on plane.
Buy cheap clothes there! It is inexpensive and helps the country your visiting's economy (:
I spent $5 on an outfit and left it at the hotel after!
Exofficio underwear, wash them in the sink and they’ll dry by morning
I always travel only with my carryon. Take dresses, 2/3 shorts and multiple t shirts, 1/2 night dresses, inners, toiletries and cosmetic kit. You might need some swimwear as well depending on where you are traveling to. Roll your clothes to pack more , it always helps :)
Space bags!!! They are the bags that vacuum seal your clothes flat...search on amazon, they have the travel varieties that allow you to roll out the air
SM2 - I am intrigued. Which size would fit in a carryon? The médium? Those have great reviews.
SM1 - Those look good, thank you!
Thank you ladies, this is super helpful. Something I always struggle with is what is the formula? Eg 3 tops, 3 bottoms, 2 pairs of shoes? Do I really-wear tops / do they have to be hand-washable, etc. I think I just need to strike the balance by packing low-maintenance clothing (cotton, and athleisure material) and still leaving space for a couple of new items I may want to pick up while I’m out there
OP, also recommend looking at packing cubes. They aren’t as flexible as space bags but they keep things well organized and packing cubes do compress a bit. Eagle Creek has both compression bags and packing cubes
OP - I usually go for the small and medium size, gives you more flexibility with how you want to configure them in your carryon
Packing cubes are magical!
