@sc1 I agree with you, but I would argue that being able to have a job keep yourself off the streets would take foremost priority. Social issues are much more important to us because we are already financially secure (or have the means to be because of our educational background)
Lol. A job is a potential means to shelter or food. The "social issues" that people are concerned about relate to how physically safe they feel on a day to day basis. Having a job is not a basic human need. Feeling that I won't be attacked walking down the street is. I honestly think even rationalizing something to communicate otherwise points out privilege.

There is still a huge problem of racism in this country. Moral values are becoming less and less important in this country, if they do, they we would never elect dbag trump.
@LEK social equality is a *very* personal and basic need....If you're the one who isn't being treated equally. Whiteness affords you the privilege to not consider "social issues" since you're the default.
