Which do you think is harder: distractions/distracting students in the classroom or students being disengaged online? Distractions in the classroom used to be a HUGE problem for me and now I miss the energy of a classroom!
Someone posted a similar question, but what subscriptions/services have you purchased to make your life outside of teaching (or in the classroom) easier?
I am in a permanent sub job and trying to get my classroom management under control. Is there anyway you can be a nice teacher? Or should you always be tough and then nicer?
Our school has a very diverse population, but our district and building don’t embrace it very well, so I decided to start in my own classroom. I talked to my kids about family origins and then surprised them with a flag from each country of origin. Now when they walk in there is a small representation of who they are. It also sparks conversation about where the different flags are from and shows students just how diverse we all are. So far the kids love it and we’ve had some great conversations.
Have you felt the need to come out to show advocacy and diversity in your classroom? Even if you’re totally comfortable in your personal life, do you feel this need to be out and be an ally?
Anyone else an elementary specialist who gets called to help behavior kids, remove them from their classrooms if being unsafe and supervise them in a “safe room” type of setting? If so, how much of your own teaching are you missing in a typical day and what kinds of support is your district offering you? Right now, I am dealing with behavior kids for 1-4 hours daily (I’m the reading specialist). Almost non-existent support from the district. Just curious what it looked like in other places.
This sounds dumb. I need to find a job as a classroom teacher. But I am scared. My last school was horrible and I don't want to ever find myself in that situation.
If you're thinking about leaving the classroom, how much would it take to get you to stay?
I’m asking a favor when you walk into your classroom Monday. Look at your students individually 1 out of 10 are dyslexic, most not diagnosed and probably not even conscious of why they are struggling with certain aspect of education. It’s more than flipped and reverse letters. Check out https://dyslexiatheinvisibleepidemic.weebly.com/ Our school’s language teacher found one this week no telling how much this will change this students life positively! Even if you only discover 1, it’s like the positive impact you have on all students
A couple weeks ago our district had a student commit suicide reportedly due to bullying. Yesterday HS kids were passing out flyers they made in which they named students and instances of them bullying, along with the names of teachers that they “say” did nothing about it. They are planning a walk out tomorrow afternoon. So curious to see how admin handles this. What’s your take on this?
I'm confused: we are supposed to make learning relevant and engaging for students, yet I keep getting reprimanded for including current events in the classroom. The kids are loving it and are really engaged in great debate and discussion. What's the problem?
Seeking clipart recommendations. Looking for clipart that is school-related, bright and colorful, engaging, and brings a little color from the classroom. Must be easy to use. TPT purchase is fine.
Hello fellow teachers. It’s my second year teaching and I’ve begun to get my pace in the classroom with discipline except one student. She doesn’t do her work and when my coteacher and I walk around, she doesn’t accept help (for example, she will sit looking at her blank work so when we go over to ask her how should she start the problem or can we read it to understand, she’ll pull away her chromebook and annoyingly says I don’t need help. This student currently has a 0% in math because of this.
Any suggestions on science or social studies curriculum to use in a self-contained (setting 4) EBD classroom?
I'm worried about having enough supplies for my students to get through the school year. Any recommendations for classroom grants?
I took advantage of Verizon’s Black Friday deals and got myself the new iPhone yesterday. I’m AMAZED by all the neat things it can do. One of my favorites is that you can grab text from a picture and have it read aloud. This would be so helpful for my students with vision needs and those with reading disabilities. When do we think we’ll actually see this technology in the classroom? Can’t very well put “iPhone” on a students assistive tech section of their IEP 😂
Just received a text from a team member stating two missionaries that traveled through Tokyo were in my classroom teaching (private school). Said they hired a company to deep clean tonight. Thoughts?
What does your classroom seating look like? Do students have their own desk, or do you have them arranged in groups?

How long after someone quits/resigns from PwC will their medical insurance remain active? End of that month?
How much do you spend total annually? Across everything (rent, food, travel, everything), not counting loans / debt unless it’s a mortgage. Partner and I spend about $9-10k combined monthly (once you bake in one time costs like trips, gifts around the holidays for family, etc) but still feels really high. Would love perspective from ppl in HCOL place like us. Our normal recurring expenses are ~$6.5-7k across rent (3k) food (1k) insurances and car payments (500) therapy, insurance, utilities, etc
What are some worthwhile certifications if work is paying for it? Predominantly serve as a project manager but not tied to it, so would be interested in more generic/interesting classes/certifications etc.
How to say no to an employer after accepting the offer and after getting the immigration done (h1b transfer) ? I had a reason due to which I had to wait for so long, but at this point of time my main goal is to say "NO' to that employer without burning the bridge.
Recruiting and coaching - how are they interconnected? The interview pattern #successcoach # mindset #recruiting.
A friend has been interviewing at a company for 4 months. They keep adding in more interviews, saying they have found great opportunities for him, and only occasionally responding to emails. At this point I’m assuming they like him but don’t know where to place him. Is it normal to get this type of run around ?
I am very interested in moving into tech sales. I have held various positions in a manufacturing "startup", including Marketing Manager, Operations Manager, and Inside Sales/Project Management position. I have also worked as a Business Analyst for a Sitecore marketing/integration partner. I am currently working as an Outside Sales Rep for a Plumbing/HVAC Distributor. Am I better off trying to find a SDR/BDR position and go from there or do you think I could land an AE position?
I'm 21 but I graduated college really early and I'm a analyst on track for promotion next year. Most guys my age are still in school and the ones older than me are hesitant because I look really young and I'm 6-7 years younger than most of them . Has anyone navigated dating in a similar situation
Anyone here at pwc and recently went on maternity leave? How many weeks did u take? And do you accrue pto during that time? I would think you can use disability benefits first and then add the 8 weeks parental leave and then use your pto. Just didn’t know if you still accrue during your paid leave. Thanks
Has anyone had any experience or heard about the Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer role? I have 2 YOE in Analytics and was curious how the role is? From WLB to day to day tasks. Any comments would be appreciated

Hi, I was laid off during Covid and currently looking for opportunities. If anyone is hiring, I would love to speak with you!
Was talking to the husband about what to do when kid 2 comes, if I'd want to go part time/flexible and keep them both at home while we wait for the pandemic to calm down (kid 1 is currently in daycare). He said he would look into it as well so we could split the time, no reason for one person to take full responsibility. I almost cried lol Ladies!! Talk to your husbands/SOs! Maybe not all will offer that solution on their own but see if they are receptive to the idea if you're struggling.
