You’re a SM at 28? Damn you’re fast tracked! Not worth it. The money you pay for school and opportunity cost is too great considering what you would make now and in the next few years with raises and promo. Being a SM already gives you great exit ops.
Advisory SM=Consulting M at Deloitte
If you’re a SM at 28 (unsure how that is possible), you would lose well over $300k in earning while doing MBA and likely come out of it making a similar salary. Unless you really want MBB, doesn’t seem to make financial sense. You clearly are highly valued at PwC and seems like you could make partner quickly and retire early.
why not stay and become a director or partner?

I’d consider an EMBA if nothing else, but if your goal is MBB, just work on getting a referral and your cases. No MBA necessary
More than makes financial sense. B4 advisory comp track is several multiples lower than MBB comp track.
Nope
As a fellow PwC-er with an SO at MBB - the trajectory is absolutely higher. We exited school at the same time, and within a few years, they’re earning 2x more in total comp
There are a few thought processes for an MBA - what are your long-term goals? Chances of landing at a target school? Opportunity cost? 200k for a degree is a heck of a lot of money. I’m sure too can try to jump ship now through networking
I completed a part time MBA while at a Tier 2 Strat company and considered the MBB route.
In short, if you are simply interested in moving to MBB that isn’t a great reason to go back full time.
I would be careful to (a) not put MBB on a pedestal and think about whether “starting over” at one of those firms is truly better than staying on the track you’re on and (b) understand that while you ”know” MBB is what you want going for, you’ll likely find other shiny objects (e.g., big tech, leadership development/rotational programs) that you may prefer.
