Trying to decide who to invite from work. My office is about 45 people total—50-50 attorneys and support staff. I know which associates I’m inviting and know that the others won’t care. I’m coaching a junior member of the team now and he often asks this kind of questions that drives me crazy: Should I put the same thing as last year in the WP? Is it all the same as last year? Last year they had this evidence but we don’t have this year, is it okay? I did explain the whole testing principles and logic, so why am I still getting this type of lazy questions?

Our business is two years old and about 60 full time employees strong. We've never gathered demographic details from our team members such as ethnicity, cultural identify, sexual orientation, etc. and recently ran into an instance where the percentages of diversity among staff was requested. My boss the general manager is setting me up at work. She is saying all this stuff about me that is not true at all. One day she left the grill on. Etc. There was another manager there training to run another store and she said I basically do a lot of the work while she doesn't do much. So she stood up for me.

Or is a better approach saying it’s the leadership in general creating a negative and toxic culture? How effective are these conversations really? Trying to assess if there’s any point in bringing this up. Obviously HR works for the company and an employee sharing their thoughts on the unsupportive, cold leaders could bite me in the long run.

Ok I recently moved from Seattle to Auckland for work, and everything's been great except for one thing. I feel really rude and stupid even complaining about this but I'm not used to talking to and making small talk with so many strangers daily. In Seattle you maybe say hello to the person you buy your paper from and here I'm getting into discussions with people while I wait for a red light. Everyone is so nice but I'm exhausted! What's a polite way to say I can't talk right now?

My organization absorbed another and the former deputy PM became a branch head - a demotion. For org was more focused on tech dev and not delivering a product on a sked. New org is very focused on that. He is not a driving leader, but is the only one with the tech knowledge needed. He is retirement eligible. He has no heir apparent - previous org didn’t plan that way. If I move him under someone who is a driver - he retires and I lose the knowledge. If I don’t, we may not meet schedules. Advice?

My current manager is a very controlling and has perpurated a v tense culture within the team. The boss recognises that the team is stressed, but blames the team for having such an attitude. The person is a micro manager dictates things like when work pings should happen, but at the root of it all, the team is over competitive & unhappy because of the leadership. This means we need to find a way to “charge” each of our guests for the cost. Any recs? Thought of PayPal and Venmo but would prefer being able to create a website that feels more legit / seamless and allows for credit cards if needed. There are many different room types and we’d like to be able to feature them so guests can choose.
