If everybody was in advertising for the fun of it, it would be a lot more effective. Fun is contagious. You think Tim and Eric sit down to write and say "man we gotta hit these KPIs or we won't reach our demographic?"
I don’t have a more diplomatic way to say this, but i am with you
^^^ excellent point. i believe hegarty has a line about if you as a creator enjoy it, odds are other people will too.
Hell yes. Creativity is more fun with finish lines and new beginnings.
Advertising sucks but it’s still a pretty good job.

Why my do you feel the need to say this at all? Just do your thing and be a good employee and when they talk about effectiveness and measurement just play games I’m on your phone like the rest of there creatives?
Why don't you just be an artist instead?
If it's ineffective, it's pretty much pointless from a business standpoint. And this is a business. It should be fun AND effective. But you don't have to care about effectiveness; someone else will do that for you. Especially if it's not.
I only feel good about it when people staring at Excel sheets all day come and tell me damn man you're living you're your dream. But otherwise I feel I am still not doing something that 100% satisfies me creatively.
