Trying to find interesting post and all I see is EYers cribbing about cut in phone bills and Platinum card benefits. Any recruiters here....go! Too many frustrated EYers today 😂😂

Be thankful that Amex plat fees and cell phones were subsidized as long as they were. As long as those checks clear and main benefits avail, it's a small price to pay. Besides, they were rolling out all of these new benefits like extended family leave and gym reimbursements, it was a matter of time that something else was on the chopping block.

like

THIS IS BULLSHIT, ~30 Bil on revenue and they take away our plats and cut our phone bills. AND YOU FIND THAT FUNNY OP? It ain't funny.

Why?

Not involved in decision, but I'd guess that rationale for Platinum AMEX is that it just doesn't add much value. Points are great, but solely for personal gain (and they can be kept for a <$100 fee). Ditto for $100 rebate. Centurion lounge is alright, but may not be worth it. Limited locations. Platinum card was much better years ago when it had access to more lounges. And frequent travelers who earn it by flying are still able to get lounge access with an airline.

like

Phone thing is irritating because it prevents anyone from maintaining a separate work phone without paying partially for it themselves. I'd guess that the rationale was that, culturally, no one at EY does that and instead people just over-expensed their personal phones.

like

I found the change in frequent traveler status more frustrating—120 nights or 80k miles is a lot.

like

Rather have that crap taken away instead of my job or benefits

like

It's ironic that one of them (me) actually proposed these cuts 😂😂

The last line of the email they sent about it was pretty funny....

NOTHING was funny. Ok I need to calm down and get some sleep.

EY4 - I feel your pain!

SM1 - I guess you're right :(

Please be kind I’m a noob but really want to get into the game. I was advised to “open new ira & roth ira accounts. Contribute 6k to ira and make contribution for 2020 and then roll it to Roth” I have a few questions 1. Who should I open an account with? There are so many options it’s intimidating. I don’t work for Deloitte anymore so not limited 2. After I open the account, do I just transfer the money from my checking account or does it have to be from my 401K?

Would appreciate thoughts on when to pay of student loans. Have about 40k left @ 4.5% (refinanced twice). I should be able to pay them off in one lump sum in a few months with personal savings. I’m currently paying the minimum, while saving aggressively in HYSA account , contributing to 401k to employer match, and contributing to Roth IRA. Does it make sense to just knock them out or should I increase investments focus? I know there’s likely not a “right” answer but what would you do?

For those who exit to industry, do you find recruiters lowball? They often quote a salary based on YOE and their standard pay - often lower because their salary progression is slower. 4YOE at consulting you make $120k~$150k but they quote $100k because that’s how they pay their homegrown analysts. Nobody thus far thinks 4y at consulting is worth 5-6 YOE, I’ve even met someone who only match me to their 2-3 YOE analyst because they think their program is more prestigious and want to hold me back.
