Here's my confession. I accepted a 2022 Investment Banking Summer Analyst job, as well as a Full Time Strategy job starting Fall 2022. My plan is to take a year off before starting IB FT and work the Strategy job in the interim.
My goal is to hedge (yes, I understand the risks). If I don't receive a FT IB offer or I enjoy Strategy Consulting more than IB, I stay put. If I don't like it, I work within Strategy Consulting FT until May, then quit to IB FT in the summer.
Any potential legal issues?

What's currently the best resources for learning front end development (beginner, intermediate, advanced)? I'm primarily a backend dev, but would like to go back and freshen up my front end skills.

Current HHI of ~$650k in the USA (north east, HCOL area, early to mid 30s, DINK). Future career prospects seem safe and steady but nothing exciting (work at large companies, H1B struggle etc). Opportunity for us to move back to India and have jobs that can provide ~$250k with likely more future potential (with some additional risk). What would you do, fam? Help me think through!

I think the quality of tax returns being filed has gone down significantly. One of the reasons is that the “old school” mentality of if you are assigned a tax return you work as many extra hours to complete the return, however people cap their hours and those returns either don’t get done or they are done poorly and it’s better to get filed then to get it late. Leaders in PA need to factor in that the newer generation will not just “get it done” regardless if the amount of extra hours.

Anyone ever told a recruiter you make more than you actually do to get a higher offer?

Those of you who left for industry, what do you work towards in your role? I was reflecting on my time in public and there was always something, whether it was a new section in the file, getting more client contact, getting invited to a big golf outing, running the jobs, managing the jobs, etc. I worry that leaving would leave me bored and not motivated to hit any sort of goal. I’m burnt out and worry that I’m making a rash decision lol. Thoughts?
