How is work life balance in UK compared to US?
I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

I've heard FTI is pretty stagnant. EY is firing people left and right, Deloitte is a sweat shop. Seems PWC, AlixPartners, and Alvarez are probably growing the most.
Are you in the forensic technology/e-discovery industry now?
I’m not. And the projects I’ve heard people working on are actually really high profile cases not the bullshit I do now. My friend’s brother is at FTI and he always seems really busy but said he enjoys the work hard play hard culture it holds
I want to second A1’s note: I transferred into PWC’s forensics practice several years back and I have been amazed by the work we do. Easily the most interesting stuff I’ve encountered while at the firm. We are busy, too
Do you mind me asking what your transfer process was like? PwC is an interesting option as well. At what level did you transfer? And how’s your travel/travel locations?
Transfer process was great. I had the support of a partner in my target market and everything went smoothly. I am a manager and transferred in as such
Can you go into a specific industry? What kind of firms have you worked with/locations?
Id rather not share clients or locations, but I can tell you that the projects I’ve seen are with no-bullshit organizations/companies and the scope of work was very interesting. I know that doesn’t help, but I have 6 years experience in consulting and this is the first time I’ve truly been amazed with the kind of work I’m part of.
I’m sure there will be a couple people who jump in and shit all over PwC, as that’s en Vogue these days, but for what it’s worth I am happy here
Fair. Thanks for the insight!
That being said, please feel free to post a burner email if you want to connect offline.
Best of luck!
P1 can you give any insight to the types of projects you've done? FCPA, settlements, etc?
