Trying to help my wife upgrade her WFH setup. She gets some road noise at times and is backlit in the afternoon. Anyone have suggestions for webcam and external microphone that would handle that? … and no curtains aren’t an option. She loves to look of the room and the blinds that are there.

I have a Logitech C920 Pro. It does very well with external noise cancellation. It does have some automatic brightness adjustments but I’m not sure that any camera can really do all that much for backlighting.

Interesting. I’m reading online I was assuming the mics in the webcams weren’t going to be an upgrade over the computer one. Do you come through clear/crisp to people? If so I may just look that route. The one you have or I know the Brio and new Anker ones are well thought of too.

Ring light

Added a light in already… made a big difference but she didn’t like how in your face the ring light was. Hard to work most of your day like that. Looking for something that is software oriented to help get over that last hump.

I had the same issue with regards to video. I tried the ring light which you clip on but I have some photo sensitivity and it was difficult to look into the camera eith the glare. I also wear glasses and the ring light reflected on them like two bright halos in my eyes (not scary at all!! :D) Here's what I did.(note - this is still sort of a temp solution since I'm renting and moving soon) I got myself a nice floor lamp which has two lights. One taller ambient one to make the room brighter and one smaller that you can focus a bit. And now I use the smaller lamp to focus on me so it's not glaringly in my face and it is bright enough to make me look good!

A friend told me they will often add additional conference room time at no extra cost - we are looking to minimize our spending as we rebuild and refocus perspective during the unending pandemic.

Wanted to get opinion from community. Should I continue as EY FAAS manager M2 (120k) or take job as an assistant controller with biotech for 170k plus bonus and stock? Assistant Controller job would require me to be in office few days a week (about hour and half commute one way) whereas faas is remote for foreseeable future. I also don't know way to get promoted to FAAS senior manager ( m3-> senior manager?). I also don't know FAAS SM salary.

I’ve been at home all day every day just grinding out spreadsheets and sending emails as almost everyone on this app and I just missed working on stuff with my hands and feeling a little physical exhaustion so I decided to join my brother at his mechanic shop and switch out Excel and Outlook for a jack and a power drill and let me tell you... it feels amazing. It’s funny how he thinks I’m so lucky to WFH and stay inside with AC and I think he’s lucky to have a job that actually feels fulfilling

I am looking for a Social Manager to work on a national auto brand — this is honestly a dream job for anyone into auto/autocare, DIY, racing, and sports. You will run and manage day to day social activity alongside a Social Strategist and Social Coordinator, with the support of an Analyst and full creative team. You will also have an excellent Account team. We can relocate you to NC or you can work central or east coast remote. Send me a DM if you’re interested!!

I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years). Am I crazy if I leave?

Hi, would love some advice! I’ve been at my company ~1 yr and feeling like I need a change due to various reasons. Not sure if I can apply elsewhere w/ a little less than 1 yr under my belt, and I don’t have many connections in my area. Right now, I play a BSA role on my team, and I’m hoping to pursue product/UX design. I’m also doing a UX bootcamp in the spring & working on a udemy course outside of work for UX/UI. What’s a good stepping stone role (remote preferred)?
