1. Not necessarily
2. Generally speaking, yes in the US
Start with: sunscreen, daily. A retinol at night and a vitamin c serum during the day (under SPF!). If you want to get fancy can add a moisturizer at night/day
yes to all these suggestions - but i’d say in addition to sunscreen daily, start with moisturizer before adding anything else on this list to your routine. Less is more and i know that for myself and many people, adding the moisture that my skin so desperately needed (even for oily skin) changed everything!

A dermatologist for a medical reason is covered but not if you’re looking for cosmetic help (which it sounds like is what you’re doing). I personally have never heard of going to a dermatologist just for general skin help, most people go to estheticians or plastic surgeons/medical spas for that kind of thing

Makes sense, thank you!!

A dermatologist can absolutely help you form a skin care routine and prescribe medication to help with things like acne, irritation etc. they also do extractions.
An esthetician can also assess your skin and suggest a regimen, give you non prescription treatments.
I use both.

If you’ve never been to a derm before I would start there. They can give you more targeted advice. An office visit is usually just your copay for a specialist (so any non-PCP visit). They can also assess for skin damage and stuff like that.
The best thing for your skin is a consistent routine. Tretinoin (retinol) at night and SPF of at least 30 is really all you need!
Hyram on YouTube will tell u everything for skincare. Robert welsh on YouTube will tell h everything for makeup.
