Trying to make a switch in my career to heavily software focused. I’ve been learning C++ using some online courses and I’m learning but I feel like it’s not practical when I want to apply to a job. Any good recommendations on how I can learn how to write/debug to get into a software entry level job

It is difficult to get the first job because you can take courses but you don't have direct experience. Have you tried freelance work? It would be a good way to start because companies usually look for people who already have experience as a programmer.

Hello, welcome to this side of the force (programmers), if you find it hard to get a job is normally the first is the most difficult, it would be a good idea to learn a little another language too, be a little more dual, Python is always good to open job doors.

Does coding in python have to do more with testing? I don’t really like coding where I have to test something physically. Also, is it easier to learn than C++?

I would recommend finding a software development bootcamp to attend. Bootcamps teach practical skills that are needed in the workforce, and they also give you a chance to network with other software professionals.

Consider finding a software development internship or joining a software development meet-up group to get started. Hackathons are great to learn by practicing and for networking

Have you considered trying to get involved in open-source projects? This could help you learn how to write code better and debug and troubleshoot code effectively.

How do I do that?

I need a career change and I could use some advice.
I know the industry I want to work in (Entertainment, Film&TV) but I’m having difficulty choosing positions to apply for.
I have a BSc in Economics for Arts, Culture and Comms (focused on the film industry), 7 years of experience in a big name news channel (operations dept) and I speak 7 languages (at different fluency levels).
Are there any specific positions that would most benefit from multilingualism where that would give me a boost? Thx

I recently realized that I no longer want to work with a partner ( Partner A). Partner A became a partner 2 years ago but still works like a senior manager and tries to micromanage everything. Partner A is also very slow in reviewing the work which results in delays in deliverables. I always had a great relationship with my clients but this is causing issues. The problem is 3 of my biggest 5 clients are Partner A's clients and I like my clients and the work. What do I do?

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs.
