Trying to move to a HRIS manager or director role and finding that they can’t match my base pay (165k, M level). Wondering if this is the case for others?

In house role expectations can be quite comical. Ive seen ads requiring experience in all HCM modules, payroll, financials, integration coding skills and they were paying like $90k 😂. Many companies are totally clueless about the maket and how firms implement so it’s sometimes hard to land an internal role.

like

Yeah a lot of them dont work out and people boomerang back to consulting. Client side doesnt really understand how things work on the consulting side and think they can get infinite resources even when we’re operating in a closed ecosystem with pretty well paid consultants that aren’t gonna jump over for $100k. (People can get that with only 2 yoe in this market). I think even $200k is low, given that its not too hard to get that after 7 years either as an M and above or by going independent.

Would you mind sharing the work location? As that decides the comp package… to my experience $140 - $170k is the broad range for Manager HRIS position

like

I am seeing something similar in NYC, I’ve reviewed several positions and the stated comp was 140-150, when my base pay is over 170. 6.5 yoe

The ranges are all over the place in the industry. Target Big Tech & Wall street firms but there are very few roles out there.

After a lot of work am able to crack $300k TC (195k Base HCOL - Like top tier city NYC/SF/LA). 6 YOE in workday & 10 YOE overall. Hope this helps!

I’m at 160k and I’m an HRIS senior manager at a large 100k EE enterprise that’s global. The openings from recruiters looking for HRiS workday managers/ directors that i have seen has varied but started at 120 that I’ve seen on LinkedIn. I think the highest one ive seen is 200k. I feel like once you start getting to those higher levels, it’s bonus + equity. That could be me though?

like

So note - GQR has a Hris technology director position they are sourcing for for a base of 180-200k if interested. Just saw it on LinkedIn if interested. Looks like Gryphn Allen is hiring for it.

Shoot, I’m well below this range as a Global HRIS Manager.

Start talking to those recruiters hitting you up and see how much money is on the table

A former co-worker (not from W+K) who I know got let go because he was not effective or good at his job just got a new job as a VP of Design of a major corporation. He blatantly lied about his experience on LinkedIn (and I assume his resume), inflating his title and severely either overstating his role on projects or flat-out making up projects. It made me wonder just how many “leaders” do you think gain their roles this way? I know it happens, but that doesn’t lessen my anger one bit.

Interested in getting into management/leadership type role, my experience has strictly been in underwriting. Only prior management experience was fast food joint I worked at in college. Looking for tips/tricks on how to get there. Any special designations other than CPCU to get? It would probably be easier to get into it at my current company as they know I’m a leader, but what about if I wanted to go external?

Considering buying a townhouse in an ideal location but just found out there is an on-going lawsuit with the builders by the HOA (HOA vs builder) for construction defects (cracks in ceilings have appeared in some homes). Is it worth the risk? I don't know how these things play out and even if the HOA wins, what the fix to it will be..any experiences/thoughts?

I could lowball and maybe get a better deal, but not sure if it's worth it.

How different is WD training for consultants vs. clients? I recall that there was a mix of consultants and clients in my HCM Core course. The only difference was the extra week of practice and exam for consultants.
