Trying to think of ways I can be a public servant during these times. Prior enlisted USMC. Thinking of looking into police reserves or maybe even the national guard (🤮). I want to be able to be CONTD

Called on if our way of life gets bad enough. Obviously medical is out of the question so it leads me to think I could only help as a national guardsman or a local police officer. Don’t want to quit the day job but don’t want to just sit on my ass.

Have you looked at Civil Air Patrol? You don’t have to be a pilot, they have air and ground crews and do get involved with emergency management responses.

Go in with an open mind and see if it works for you. Plus being part of the Air Force total force, there are some really cool things that you can get involved in.

The Navy has a NEPLO (Navy Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer) unit in every state. Getting involved with that or the broader ANG would likely be where you should look.

Prior enlisted? You mean USMC Veteran? At ease soldier of the sea.

Check the air national guard too (national guard is army). I am currently serving in it. However the process is slow so this whole event will probably be slowing sown by the time you get in.

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty

My parents wants me to get married with a fellow ZSer coz you know right?
We both will have the same package, same company, same background(most probably) and same poor work-life balance. They think that this marriage will last longer and has higher chances of being successful. So, is there a Jeevansaath/Shaadi dot com for just ZSers? Think about it? It is a good idea plus no HR problem also 😛

Hello, I have an interview scheduled for the position of Product Manager for Mumbai location. Could anyone please help me with details like culture/benefits and pay at ICICI?

Hi all. I am licensed in life, accident and health and am looking for new opportunities. I’ve been working in employee benefits in a small brokerage firm on a book of business of over 400 clients, I’m the only account manager. We’ve had 100% employer retention since I’ve been here. I am a high performer, but not sure I’m valued much at all . I want to reach the top and become partner in my career ; this is why I went to work for a small firm. My boss favors others when I do the most work!!

Why does the street, and people in general, care so much about the technicality & formal announcement of a recession (2quarters of negative GDP)? Q1 was heavily negative GDP and now FED Atlanta revised Q2 Fcst to 0.0% growth. Let's be honest with ourselves, we are in one now. Why does nobody think this narrowly and wait till data release day and then finally screech "wE aRe iN a RecEsSioN"

Either way, I'm curious if anyone would know why I only received 25 months of education benefits. I was 100% active for 4 years, 3 deployments to Iraq, honorable discharge etc. And wondering if there is any way to extend my benefits and get the 36-48 months that seems to be standard.
