Looking for negotiation advice.

Received an offer with 150k base and 25k bonus. Had a negotiation call where I requested a 10-15% base bump for merit/BATNA reasons. They were receptive.

Follow up call they provided a 13% base increase + an unexpected 41% bonus decrease.

Is this common practice? Any thoughts on countering this? Any specific language you would use?

I realize I never accounted for this scenario and that's on me! Hoping for advice on how best to move forward.

I have audit next saturday and am currently beginning my review of chapter 4 of 6 on becker. My review so far has just been going back to the multiple choice I missed on the first pass and going over my notes. Haven't touched any sims yet. What chapters should I focus the most on and does my timeline to test next saturday sound ok? Have tonight, all of saturday and Sunday. Can probably study 2 or 3 hours a day Monday - Friday. Any suggestions for study strategy are appreciated.

Any advice from someone who has had to retest several times to pass? I keep failing even on practice tests despite giving it my all. Trying not to be defeated, but also very committed to passing. What did you do that helped tip you over the edge?

What would you do in this situation? I take the subway everyday in Manhattan from midtown to lower Manhattan at 6:30am. Moved from another state to NY while keeping the same job which is based in NY. Why does my w2 form show box 16 as state wages in NY even though only about 30% of that was when I lived in NY?

We have been in NYC for a little while with kids (2/4 yo, we are 33 yo) and even if we are financially well-off, it feels like we can’t buy a house for our lives. We are in the legal industry but potentially could work remotely forever.

Anyone found a city they love outside of NYC where buying a house is doable? We love the diversity we can find in NYC (food, international communities). Any recommendations of cities to look at? Not interested in suburbanish settings.
