I left public on great terms about a month and a half ago for industry. I worked at a large regional for 3.5 years. I hate my new job and I am not getting treated very well. I left for a sizeable raise and for what I thought would be good work/life balance. It turns out basically all of the things sold to me in the interview were BS with the exception of the salary. Is it feasible to go back? I would rather deal with the things I didn’t love about public than my current job.

I am interviewing for Benefits Specialist positions currently. What do you say when a hiring manager or recruiter asks what you made in your last position? On top of that I have been asked what my salary range is for the position I am interested in. This is during the initial phone interview. I expect the company to tell me the range for the position. I have found they are asking range before they tell me the range. I have done research for market rate and answer with the range I researched.

Will you accept an SDE II role (lower level) offer with more salary/benefits than your current Sr. Engr. role (NOTE: the application was for a Snr. Engr. Role). They claim that the interview performance is how they determined the SDE II level.
Or would you rather decline the offer and wait to land a job where the Role/Salary matches your current level expectations of Role/Salary?

Buying a house and sellers offered to leave the piano for free. We have a three year old and a two year old, we’ve never thought about doing piano lessons but it seems like a cool skill. Would you take it? Seems like a nice offer but I also realize they are trying to unload it onto us so they don’t have to move it themselves…
