Tux rental vs. buy. Any suggestions for renting in NYC. My main worry with the rental is the fit.

Is this for your wedding? If so, buy!

I think M2 is confused about the meaning of bespoke - a truly custom made tux would set you back 4-5k at least. Having said that, try suitsupply!

Buy Tux when your 30 or below and stay that size.

BCG 1 I think you’re confused about M2s response. He said if you “can’t” afford bespoke. Makes perfect sense to me, although I do have a hangover.

If you are ever going to wear one again (or don’t want the risk of looking like a clown) then buy. Go to Alton Lane in NYC if you can’t afford a true bespoke tux from a reputable tailor. They 3D model you and get you a custom suite in a week or so. Very affordable for the base materials too.

You can buy a cheaper tux and get it tailored. Renting will put you out $120-$150 anyway

If you wear a tux more than twice per year it’s a no brainer to buy one. Brooks Brothers has very reasonable prices and good quality

Most optimistic case for me is wearing it once a year. For cost of a custom tux I can rent one 5-6 times. So renting makes more sense, but I am worried about the fit and quality of rental tux. Does anyone has experience with the quality of rental tux. And no it’s not for my wedding.

If you value your time at anything north of $0/hr, factor the ordering/pickup/drop off hassle of each rental cycle into your math. I want custom on a Hong Kong trip before HBS and it was money well spent

Enzo, suit supply or black tux to rent

Does Enzo has tux rental, I highly doubt that.

The tux from J Crew is actually pretty good, but have it tailored .
