Yesterday my SM said to me - “we get it, everyone’s tired; get over it” in reference to leadership raising the issue of worker-bee well-being.

Trust me, I am. Things just take some time... made it to final rounds last week to lose out to someone cheaper. Fingers crossed something falls into place by Easter.

What firm? There are so many wellbeing initiatives especially during covid times. If anyone reading this is burnt out just remember work will ALWAYS be there. Step off the treadmill and speak to someone about slowing down.

It’s not anyone else’s fault if these folks are suffering from burnout. Own your career, and that includes your work life balance.

M3 all your example shows me is your ineffective management. You need to tell her that the work will be fine, genuinely convince her, ask her what her concerns are, explain the risk lies with you and her seniors, get others involved, find out who she will listen to and get them to tell her. There is SO much more you could be doing to support her to take her PTO.

What country is this in? US?

Not surprised it’s Germany

The partner is not wrong may be his tone was. He could have at least feigned concern. Not everyone who is a partner genuinely cares about their people. Some do some don’t.

Yes they're the primary drivers but if you can't cultivate and maintain a strong team around you because you've worked them to death what are you really gaining? No wonder the rat race is won by sociopaths when genuine belief in staff wellbeing at the top level is still being debated 🤦

What does “burnout” actual mean?

Burnout is what happens when your workload, hours and stress levels have been really high for an unsustainable amount of time. We can all cope with increased pressure during deadlines etc. but when it's continuous it can affect your physical and mental health and your ability to perform your role.

In search of advice here: I have a hybrid background in design and management. I have an opportunity to join a team as a designer and am also getting traction on an application for account management. I feel comfortable and excited doing both. How can I decide on which avenue to take? Which is better for long term growth and $$? Both options are roughly same salary. One is fully WFH one is temp WFH with 2-3day in office next spring.

Ideas on the programs to motivate remote workers to exercise/be physically active? Apart from step counts and paying for a gym membership. We already have monthly reimbursement but I'm looking into ways to engage people and motivate them to actually use the money for the purpose. I'm so thankful that EY has not made the Covid19 Vaccination a condition of employment and they allow work from home to remain an option. Such a great employer. I don't want the government or my employer to dictate what happens to my body, we must always have freedom of choice. That is one of the things that makes US a wonderful place to live. To all who received the vaccine I'm happy you had that option. I will wait a few years until there is enough vaccine data before I put it in my body.
