Where are you in your career and life? If you are young adult I would go with option two and look for option 1 in 2-3 years for a higher position. If you are older with small kids/family and work life balance is priority I would go with option 1 now.

27, M, M1, single. Family with parents it’s important to me and so is summer time off. Staying at EY I think is harmful to my career for what I eventually want to do

Go with somewhere you’ll be happy. I went with the equivalent of option 2, and maybe it accelerated my career but I was increasingly miserable the last few years and then got laid off like I meant nothing to them. Wish I’d had an option 1

like

Definitely Option 1. It sounds like you’ll be happier at work, where you’ll be spending a decent chunk of your time, but it allows you to have a life outside of work too.

My big 4 busy season is max 60 hours... Like 1-2 weeks per year. What are you doing at work???

ALso a big game changer for me was that I’ve heard ppl in industry are all old and very conservative. Not the case for my company, they’ve all worked at the big4 and have the work life balance mentality where as long as you do your work and meet deadlines they’re very understanding and flexible. Definitely got lucky with the group I’m in.

Deloitte GPS is offering me the chance to interview next Thursday or in January? Would it make a huge difference if I chose the date in January? I don’t want to ruin my chances of getting an offer by picking a much later date

I’m currently making 83K at AFS. 2.5 YOE. I’m interviewing with Deloitte GPS for a consultant level position and the recruiter mentioned 80K-90K for base salary. I don’t hate my role at AFS, I just want to leave to get more experience and money. I don’t think it makes sense to leave for anything less than 97K. Should I follow through with the interview for this role? Is there a chance Deloitte GPS would offer 97K-100K for the consultant level? This is for a Human Capital Consultant role btw

Had a final round interview with EY a few weeks back in November, I didn’t hear anything back for a bit and reached out to the recruiter as it was 4 weeks out after they had said 2 weeks to hear back. They were on vacation and Thanksgiving was coming up. I got an email today asking for availability for “time to connect” and the subject of the email was “EY Interviews - Next Steps” Does anyone know what this could mean?
