OP, please understand it is normal for first years to bill less than 8 hours/day, every day. You will become more valuable and busier as you gain experience. Also, if you are at work for exactly 8 hours and bill exactly 8 hours, you are padding. Except for Sunday’s, I am always for longer than my daily billables.

I don’t think I have enough work to justify being here. I have asked for work and still do not reach 8 hours a day. I am at work for longer than 8 hours but for some reason my billable hours do not reflect that. Secondly, so many people have been jumping ship (in senior positions) which makes me nervous as a first year.

(1) what do I do for more work besides begging people (2) should I be nervous about my future at the firm?

OP, ask for help on how to capture your hours. Unless you’re sitting in your office waiting around for work, you should able to capture most of your time. Make sure you’re billing for actual time spent and that you’re not cutting your hours

Hello, I got approached by a MassMutual agent, he showed me a plan of investing 15k per year for 15 years into a whole life insurance. His argument is that since whole life policy have cash value, I could draw money from it tax free in down years instead of 401k. And if I don't take out any money its a good tax free inheritance for my kids. Any advice/comments ?

Best feeling is landing an offer with a 40% raise before layoff, then getting the HR/Partner invite and telling them they could've saved $25k severance because you were about to quit the next day. 😂
