Two roads, which is the Quickest way to FP&A?
1. Staff 2 -> Senior accountant -> FP&A
2. Staff 2 -> Senior TAS mid public -> FP&A

Depends on the company. I just interviewed for FP&A and they were excited about my core assurance background. Feeling good about it.

I'm in FP&A now and job postings for financial analysts say Big 4 experience preferred.

Why make it more difficult than it needs to be? You left out these options:
3. Staff 2 -> FP&A
4. Senior 1 -> FP&A

Option 1 leaves it up to the employer and you'll really need to gauge how open they are to transferring you. Or hope that what you learned as a senior accountant is enough to help you jump to FP&A at another company.

Option 2 works but going mid size may impact exit ops (although, you'll have B4 on your resume regardless so maybe it doesn't matter). Skillset from TAS definitely aligns better with FP&A than audit though.

I am in industry. My company hires people with data analyst background for FP&A. I don't quite understand what is great about FP&A though.

A reminder to those who are stressed about your billable hours that your value is more than your pure productivity. To those stressed about relationships, relationships are hard even for non-lawyers, but you are absolutely worthy of love. It is an important reminder for all of us that you are worthy and you are valuable. Keep fighting!

I posted here some months back about my ectopic pregnancies but today, I'm posting to tell you all to hang in there and God will do it for you. (Please don't insult me of you don't believe in God because I strongly do).
In a nut shell, we had baby #1 without trying. Started trying for #2 and over 2 years, I had 4 miscarriages and 2 ectopics. In July, my doc informed me that the only way forward was through IVF. I was tired and confused. I PRAYED! and continued trying. (The rest in the comments.)

Am I being dumb here - just purchased a fridge from Lowes, delivery next week. Just found out through company perks that I could get it from a different retailer for $600 less but it is back ordered meaning it could be weeks or months until I get the fridge…. I am leaning toward keeping my order with Lowes … current fridge works, it is just old and shelves / ice maker is broken.

Took an industry job in a post MBA rotational program 6 months ago. Interviewed at the companies second largest office in a city where I'm originally from but was convinced to start at the HQ

I’m planning on requesting my raise before my anniversary (in December). Any advice as to how to approach the conversation with my boss?

Over the last three years my mfg company has had a lot of people leave and each time I take on the extra responsibility - from admin, payroll, benefits, compliance, safety, inventory and shipping. I literally do it all. And not only that, but I’ve eliminated and optimized a lot of wasteful processes in order to get it all done. I thought that it would all come with eventual pay increases since it saves the company over 300k in overhead. This whole time I should have been OE. I feel like a fool.

Hey everyone! I am a CPA, started at PwC, now the assistant controller at a small/medium sized Ag company. Thus far, the plan has been to follow the CFO path. But recently I have been longing for more social/client facing interactions. I am very extroverted. I love meeting and connecting with new people and would like to incorporate that into my career. Any thoughts on possible career paths that would combine my experience in accounting with a more socially fulfilling job?

Thanks I’m advance!

I had about 6 years experience at big four auditing mostly PE and hedge funds, left as a manager and switched to industry, have been working at my current job in fund accounting (PE) a little over a year. If I want to switch my job an a year, what salaries range I am looking at? Is it very competitive to find a good paying senior level job? On a separate note, the main reason that I am considering a new job is wlb which still not that good. Do 9-5 jobs really exist at my level with a good pay?
